tired of school

I am already tired of the school, and it is only day 4. Emmett is in 2nd grade, and I am so unimpressed with school in general. He has far too much academics, far too little playtime, far too many helicopter adults. And he hates it. How can you hate school at such a young age? They have already ruined his experience.
I am intently reading Free-Range Kids, and it is fabulous! Every parent should have a copy, and should really learn from it.

dinner and TV

Emmett had BLUE ice cream! and pizza. in that order. We didn’t have any ice cream when he asked for it, so I made him fabulous homemade vanilla and cinnamon ice cream…. which he wanted to be colored blue. So it was. Then he had good organic pizza.

This supper was followed by watching TV in his preferred position…..

Blueberry Pie

From the Wilson Farm Cookbook. The absolute best blueberry pie recipe!

1 qt. blueberries, (4-5 cups)
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp cinnamon

1-2 tsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp butter, cut into pieces
1 pie crust- for top and bottom

1. Preheat oven to 425°.
2. Mix berries, sugar, flour, cinn

amon, and lemon juice.
3. Spoon into bottom pie crust and dot with butter. Cover with top crust and seal carefully. Cut vents.
4. Bake at 425° for 45 minutes or until top is brown and juice starts to bubble through vents. Serve warm.

Changes

I have switched to wordpress! I like all of the features and versatility…. there are so many more things I can do with it, and make it more of a site, and more useable for me, the ADD girl.

I will be playing with it a bit in the next week or two, so expect changes! I have been working on pulling together things from my previous sites and more to put it all in one place. HERE! More riding

I do love riding this horse. He has made so much progress in the last few months. I started riding him in November, and he was in a double twisted snaffle before he came up to the dressage barn. We moved him into a much gentler bit, and gave some good consistent riding. He is pretty much the only horse I ride now, and I have loved it! I wish we had video of how he was going when he first came, because he has improved sooo much. I would like to think that at least a good portion of it has been my riding 🙂

Dropping off Eli

He’s off to camp for 4 weeks. He loves it, and is so happy there. I am thrilled as I know how much I loved camp when I was growing up… ok… I know how much I have always loved camp, even when I was grown!This is a rare photo, as he is usually dodging out of the way so that I can’t get a good photo. He is obviously so psyched to be at camp, and so comfortable here, that he even allowed me to take this great picture of him!!! I know he is happy at camp!

Even Emmett has a good time and is comfortable here. I am not sure if it is the right camp for him, but at least he has a wonderful sense of familiarity with being at an overnight camp. The water was cold, and he asked if I had brought his bathing suit. I said yes, it was back at the Bungalow (where we were staying a 100 yard walk away). He proceeded to run back and forth in the water, then strip off his shirt, then get totally soaked! and enjoyed every minute of it. He later told me he was studying how the sand was swirling around his hands with the ebb and flo of the waves.

We then went for a last dinner with Eli, and he polished off a huge steak! The child is just growing like a weed. And, yes, he is taller than me now. At age 12. and feet size 10!!!!

He just needed a mental health day. School was almost done, and for goodness sake… It is June 18th!!! I could totally relate to him being tired of it. Since it was a Thursday, I was off to the barn. I told him he could skip school, but he would need to come and hang out at the barn, watch me ride, and have good behavior. He agreed that he would, so off we went.

He later said that his favorite part of the day was watching me ride Zulu!!! Yay!!!!

Rhubarb goodness…..

Trish has a HUGE patch of rhubarb growing in her garden. I picked alot of it, and made several batches of rhubarb crisp… OMG…. sooooo good!!!! Who would think this weed looking growth could taste so good?!?!
